General information only

Newsmanship is a news publication. Everything on this site (reporting, explainers, scores, data summaries, video pages and commentary) is published for general information and education. It is journalism: a verified account of events, statements, results and research at the time of publication. It is not professional advice of any kind, and reading it does not create a professional relationship between you and the publisher, its desks or anyone quoted in our reporting.

Not financial advice

Our business coverage reports markets, earnings, prices, deals and economic data as news. Figures are published as reported by the reputable sources cited in our verification process and may be revised by those sources after publication. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold or avoid any security, commodity, currency, property or other asset, and nothing here is investment, tax or accounting advice. Markets move quickly; prices and index levels in a story describe the moment the story reports, not the moment you read it. Consult a qualified, regulated financial adviser before making investment decisions.

Not medical or health advice

Our health coverage reports public-health actions, studies and official guidance as news. It does not diagnose, treat or advise any individual. Study findings reported here are summaries of research as published; a study is one contribution to a field, not a personal instruction, and our reporting notes limits and uncertainty where researchers state them. For symptoms, treatment, medication or vaccination decisions, consult a qualified healthcare professional and follow the guidance of your public-health authorities. In an emergency, contact your local emergency number rather than reading a news site.

Not legal advice

Coverage of courts, laws, sanctions, investigations and legal disputes is reporting, not counsel. Legal outcomes depend on facts, jurisdictions and courts; a story about someone’s case is not guidance for yours. Consult a qualified lawyer about any legal decision.

Accuracy, developing stories and corrections

We verify every news story against at least two reputable sources before publication, attribute claims to their makers and label company announcements as company claims. News nevertheless develops: tolls are revised, results are confirmed, officials update statements. Stories may be updated as facts firm up, and errors, when confirmed, are corrected openly under our Corrections policy. The date and state of a story when you read it may not reflect later developments; check for updates and correction notes on the story itself. If you believe something is wrong, contact us through the Contact page: correction requests are prioritised.

Forward-looking statements and attributed claims

Statements about the future (a company’s outlook, a team’s fixture hopes, a mission’s planned milestones, a policy’s expected effect) are reported as the claims of whoever made them, attributed in the story. Attribution means we report accurately that the claim was made; it does not mean we endorse its outcome. Rumours in sport, entertainment and business are labelled as rumours or omitted, and reported transfer, casting and deal speculation should be read with that status in mind.

External links and embedded material

Stories cite and link to third-party sources and embed official video. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability or practices of third-party destinations, and a citation is not an endorsement of everything a linked source publishes. Embedded video remains its source channel’s material, presented under that platform’s terms.

Photographs and illustrations

Where we use photographs from public archives such as Wikimedia Commons, the photographer, licence and source are recorded with the image. Such images illustrate the subject; where an image is a file photograph rather than a picture of the specific event reported, that reflects standard illustrated-news practice and no claim is made that the image depicts the incident in the story.

No endorsements; advertising

Mention in reporting is never an endorsement. Advertising on the site is governed by our Advertise page: advertisers buy placements, not coverage, and an advertisement’s presence does not constitute the publisher’s recommendation of any product, service or claim.

Copyright and reuse

Excerpts with attribution and a link are welcome for commentary and review. Systematic republication requires permission as set out in the Terms of Service. Archive material we license remains under its stated licence terms.

Liability

This disclaimer operates together with the limitation of liability in our Terms of Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for decisions taken in reliance on general news information rather than professional advice. If anything on this page is unclear, write to [email protected] and we will answer in plain language.

Syndication, archives and older stories

Material on this site remains available in our archives after publication. An archived story records what was known and verified at its date; later developments do not retroactively falsify it, though material errors are corrected under the Corrections policy and significant developments may be added as updates. Where reporting is republished or excerpted elsewhere with permission, the republication may be edited for that outlet’s format; the version on this site is the authoritative record. Historical prices, scores, tolls and figures quoted in older stories should not be relied on as current data.

Professional standards

Our journalists and desks are not your doctors, brokers, lawyers or advisers, and the existence of reporting about a product, treatment, investment, team or legal strategy is never a recommendation of it. Where stories quote professionals (analysts, clinicians, researchers, officials), the quotation reports their view for the reader’s information; it does not transfer their professional responsibility to us or create a duty of care toward any reader. Always verify consequential decisions against primary sources and licensed professionals in your jurisdiction.
