Cam Little’s 57-Yard Walk-Off Field Goal Stuns the Eagles in London

Cam Little drilled a 57-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Jacksonville Jaguars past the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, capping a dramatic finish to the NFL’s London showcase.

According to reports, Ameer Abdullah’s 53-yard kickoff return set up the last-second attempt, and backup long snapper DaVon Hamilton played a key role in the operation. The kick was the defining moment of Week 5: a 57-yard walk-off is rarefied territory for any kicker, let alone one doing it in the league’s marquee international slot.

The victory improved Jacksonville to 4-1 and marked, by most accounts, the biggest win of the week. For Philadelphia, it was a bitter way to lose a transatlantic showcase that had been billed as a statement game.

49ers take command; the NFC East collapses

Elsewhere on Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers solidified their dominance in the NFC West with a 5-0 start, including a statement victory over the Seattle Seahawks — form that has set them apart as the division’s clear frontrunner, according to Sports Wire Live.

The NFC East, meanwhile, had a weekend to forget: all four teams failed to secure a victory, and the Washington Commanders squandered their chance in the strangest fashion imaginable. The Commanders’ Jayden Daniels botched a final opportunity with under a minute left in overtime against the New York Giants, fumbling a potential game-winning field goal attempt while sitting on the turf as time expired. The Giants escaped with a 27-27 draw only because Cam Skattebo’s critical overtime fumble had already dashed their own hopes of stealing the game.

Around the league, and baseball’s October

The rest of the slate had no shortage of fireworks. Cincinnati beat Miami 31-24 behind Joe Burrow’s season-high four touchdown passes; New England routed Las Vegas 45-17 as Drake Maye accounted for five total touchdowns and 374 passing yards; Minnesota beat New Orleans 23-13 with Justin Jefferson hauling in a highlight leaping touchdown; and the New York Jets downed Cleveland 17-12 in a rain-soaked affair after a high, misplayed punt snap handed New York its go-ahead points.

October’s other drama is on the diamond: the Milwaukee Brewers took Game 1 of the National League Championship Series 2-1 over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, with Game 2 set for Monday, while the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays open the American League Championship Series.
